Households can now apply for a £6000 grant to help people replace old gas heating with new heating and greener technology. The grant is called a ‘Boiler Upgrade Scheme’ which has opened its applications from 23rd May, 2022 and it will run until 2025 and the scheme is open to domestic and small non-domestic properties in England and Wales. Private landlords and second-home owners are also eligible.
The grant will help property owners cover the cost of a ground source heat pump or for an air source one. You can get £5000 off the cost and installation of an air source heat pump, £5000 off the cost and installation of a biomass boiler or £6000 off the cost and installation of a ground source heat pump. The grants will only be available for air source heat pumps and biomass boilers as well as ground source heat pumps (including water source heat pumps and those on shared ground loops).
If you want to apply for this grant your installer will apply for the grant on your behalf, the value of the grant will be discounted off the price you will pay. The UK government has recommended to get quotes from more than one installer to make sure you’re getting the best value for money. If you want more information regarding the grant and terms and conditions go onto the UK government site and type in Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
