The UK Government announced today that it is now banning TikTok on all ministers and civil servants mobile phones, the announcement was made by Oliver Dowden, The Cabinet Office Minister.
The UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been under immense pressure lately from other senior MP’s to follow the USA and EU in banning the social media app from all government devices.

Security Minister Tom Tugendhat had already asked chiefs at the National Cyber Security Center to review the social media app. Science and Technology Secretary Michelle Donelan has said:
“The public can continue to use the app.”
“In terms of the general public, its is absolutely a personal choice. Its just because we have the strongest data protection laws in the world, we are confident the public can continue to use the social media app.”
TikTok has said: “Bans have been based on misplaced fears and seemingly driven by wider geopolitics, but we remain committed to working with the government to address any concerns.”
