Tesla’s car battery supplier(CATL) have now announced that they have a new battery that lasts a 16 year lifespan, also has the capability of powering a vehicle for 1.2 million miles. The supplier CATLs revealed “if someone places an order for the batteries, we are ready to produce however to cost a 10% premium over the batteries it already supplies”.
The CATL company a two year deal in february 2020 to supply batteries to Bmw, Volvo, Toyota, Volkswagen, Honda, Daimler and the Tesla model 3 car’s.

Some automakers only offer warranties on there car batteries ranging from 60,000 to 150,000 miles over a three to eight year period.
The aim is for electric transport to be a crucial part in tackling climate change, shifting our roads from gas polluting vehicles to cleaner models also to have cleaner air. The UK/USA has a goal to reach net-zero global emissions by 2050. There is also the added benefit in improving air quality in large cities, which many residents experienced temporarily when emissions, including from traffic decreased during the covid-19 lockdown.
