Mcdonalds have now announced they will install electric car charging points across certain drive-thru locations in the UK.
The fast food chain has done an agreement with Instavolt to provide its fast and electric chargers at its drive-thru Mcdonald’s restaurants. There are around 900 drive-thrus in the UK.
The company Instavolt has power points that deliver up to 125KW, which makes them fast chargers. Mcdonalds have said that they can charge a car by up to 80% in twenty minutes. The idea is that you can can charge your car while you sit and eat in the restaurant, or you can charge your car while your parked up eating.
The CEO of Mcdonald’s UK and Ireland has said ” Mcdonalds currently offers members of it staff electric or hybrid vehicles if they are eligible for company cars. Appetite for electric vehicles, which will be a central part of the UK’s efforts to build back greener post Covid-19, is growing. This partnership and ambition takes advantage of our scale, and is a real step forward for those already driving electric vehicles, as well as people considering making the switch. Mcdonalds ultimate ambition goal is to have more EV charging points across its Uk restaurants than any other company in the UK”.
