How To Make Lasagna

  • PREP TIME: 45 MINUTES
  • COOKING TIME: 1 HOUR & 45 MINUTES
  • SERVES: 8

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 kilo mincemeat
  • 2 onions (diced)
  • 1 red pepper (diced)
  • 1 green pepper (diced)
  • 1 yellow pepper (diced)
  • 10 mushrooms (sliced)
  • Half cup sweet corn
  • Half cup garden peas
  • Half cup carrots
  • 3 Tbsp sunflower oil
  • 1 & 1/2 Dolmio lasagne original red sauce jar
  • 1 Tsp salt
  • 1 Tsp black/white pepper
  • 1 Tsp chilli powder
  • 1 Tsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tsp ginger powder
  • 1 Tsp lemon juice
  • 2 Boxes of pasta sheets
  • 400g Grated cheddar cheese

CREAM CHEESE SAUCE INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Tbsp cream cheese
  • 3 Tbsp margarine
  • Half cup plain flour
  • 1 Cup milk
  • 50g Grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 Tsp salt

METHOD

  1. In a big saucepan add your sunflower oil on medium heat till oil warms up.
  2. Add your diced onions into the saucepan & saute them.
  3. Add your mincemeat into the saucepan & brown off.
  4. Add your salt, ginger, garlic, lemon juice, black/white pepper & chilli powder into the mincemeat cook for ten minutes add splash of water if gets a bit dry.
  5. Add your red, green, yellow pepper, mushrooms, sweetcorn, peas & carrots.
  6. Add your dolmio sauce into the saucepan & cook for a further ten minutes(do not let sauce dry out, add more red sauce or splash of water if needed).
  7. Take lasagna mix off heat and leave it on the side.
  8. In a separate medium saucepan fill up two thirds full of water and put on medium heat until its boiling.
  9. Add 4 pasta sheets at a time into the boiling water until they kind of see through(make sure they don’t stick together).
  10. Once all the pasta sheets are cooked put in a bowl until ready to use.

CREAM CHEESE SAUCE METHOD

  1. In a medium size saucepan on a low heat add your margarine until melted.
  2. Sieve the plain flour & salt into the melted butter & stir until it looks like play dough.
  3. With a whisk add your milk & cream cheese until its creamy & no lumps are left.
  4. Add the grated cheese into your sauce until it’s melted.
  5. Take the sauce of heat and leave on side.

ONCE ALL THIS IS DONE PREHEAT OVEN TO 190C.

NOW IT’S TIME TO LAYER YOUR LASAGNA

  1. In a deep baking tray add one layer of pasta sheets.
  2. On top of your pasta sheets add a layer of your mincemeat mix.
  3. On top of your mincemeat mix add a handful of grated cheddar cheese evenly distributed.
  4. On top of your grated cheese add some of your cheese sauce evenly.
  5. You can repeat this layering until all your mincemeat & sauce is finished.
  6. On the top layer just add grated cheese on top and some leftovers of your cream sauce if you have any.
  7. Place your baking tray into the oven middle shelf for 45 minutes.
